8bitSF brings the sounds of Chiptune, Lo-Fi, Electronic and Video Game Music to DNA Lounge.

Born in Los Angeles, raised in Alaska, and fueled by 4 Loko, Kevin "Wizwars" Gnartinez is a larger than life veteran of the West Coast Chiptune scene who uses Nintendo Game Boys and a Squier Jaguar to mix melody with chaos and create high energy Chiptune anthems. He is known for taking himself too seriously, displaying wild and erratic behavior, drinking too much before shows, and occasionally having pink hair.

1000 Needles is a Super-rad chiprock/bitpop band that has a tendency to wander the streets of Los Angeles while bellowing out pulse wave-infused melodies, all for the sake of fighting the forces of mundanity. They'll sometimes slay a monster or two, should the opportunity cross their path. Jesse plays bass and specs rogue. Will plays drums and specs mage. They like trees and are powered by Del Taco.

William S. Braintree is a composer and producer stationed in San Francisco, CA. His unique brand of electronic music is often fast and colorful. Heavily melodic with a penchant for glitchy drums, he fuses elements of 8-bit video game music, baroque, and drum and bass.

Pug afficionado and full-time salsa Baron, DJ Mr. Smith mixes the sounds of Chipmusic, Electro, Retro Wave, Nerdcore and your annoyingly loud neighbors for an experience that many nightclub critics have enthusiastically described as "Moderately unintrusive. I didn't realize there was a DJ until I saw two people standing in the sound booth." Witness the sheer insanity of someone turning dials that affect things your ears interpret as music, and leave the venue saying, "Well, that was certainly someone DJing."

Actively invading your optical canals since 2012, VJ Noukon slings a hearty spectrum of retro content, glitch/visual noise, abstract nonsense, and macabre creepiness. Resident visualist for 8bitSF and local music acts such as Crashfaster.

VCO Vault is the code-slinging, GIF-Lord Visual Jockey responsible for the 10K gif ultraPak and the new VJ suite, gifSlap. His visual sets use an experimental build of gifSlap that can throw up anything from distorted anime hack porn and flying pizza to glitched out sci-fi zoomscapes and neverending rainbows. Other projects include a robotic Tumblr gif-scraper and a Nanoloop EP called "Common Gateway".

8bitSF brings the sounds of Chiptune, Lo-Fi, Electronic and Video Game Music to DNA Lounge every 3rd Thursday!

A graduate from the school of old computers, anime, comics, movies, and surreal scifi, E.N. Cowell forges future sounds with a hard throw back to his childhood imagination.

Delorean Overdrive was formed from an obsessive love for 80's movies and analog gear. We used our collection of vintage synths and drum machines to create the soundtrack for a movie that never existed.

KAT HAUS duo Sweet Livvy and Tucknasy met via the dark corners of the internet. From their mutual love and obsession with their feline babies, KATHAUS was born. In their music one can hear Tucknasty's affinity for pop, trap, and house, and Sweet Livvy's love of harmony and the ethereal. Tucknasty brings a joyous levity to Livvy's often darker sensibilities creating a unique and accessible emotional and sonic landscape. Their live show is not to be missed.

Idol Princess Tina Belmont is a magical girl from a far away land of rainbows and unicorns and castles in the sky, who was sent to our world to spread joy and happiness to all of the children of the world! (Yeah, that's the ticket. Just play along and nobody gets hurt!)
Her somewhat unusual strategy to accomplish this involves singing cutting and insightful songs based on her disappointed wanderings in our depraved and disgusting excuse for a world. Because the surest way to make everybody happy is by pointing out their flaws and how bad their situation is, right?Right?!
Look, perhaps it might be more appropriate to dub her "Gothy Punk Rock Princess Tina Belmont" or something like that. I mean, she doesn't dress like a punk or a goth or anything like that, but these songs are dark, often cutting, and occasionally snarky. They don't necessarily fit the genre expectations you'd expect for the subject matter though...
Some of the songs you might be hearing include:
"Very Becoming", which which blends glitchy minor key verses with classic rock choruses in a song about a friend's gender change.
"Stupid Little Girl", a punky new-wave number about a needy, needy friend.
"It's a Trap!", a straight new-wave pop number about the joy and fear of life as a...
"Go Slowly", a lovely ditty inspired by Japanese "Gothic Lolita" fashion. Because in Japan, Goth is pronounced "Gosu" and Lolita is abbreviated to "Loli" and you put them together you get "Gosuloli"... "Go Slowly". Get it? Get it?
"Babydoll" is sort of a Morrissey meets the Violent Femmes number that EVERYBODY can relate to... it is about SECRET SHAME!
"The Drama" is a lovely ditty about so many of the folks in LA who seem to get off on causing pain to others...
Something for everybody! Fun for the whole family!
Tina is also the (a?) creator of the awesome music creation system "Rhythm Core Alpha 2", available for the Nintendo DSi or Nintendo 3DS game consoles. Download it from the eShop today! (It is under "Applications".) She will be performing all of the songs using that very same program!

Lady Game Lyric is a song parody writer and singer from San Francisco, CA. She enjoys taking popular songs and rewriting the lyrics to be about her favorite video games. She currently maintains a YouTube channel that features her rewritten lyrics about games like League of Legends, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, and Assassin's Creed. Video games made her. So she remakes songs about them!

VISMANCIENNE [visualmancer] is a recent visual project of LA resident Leah Oakes. Leah is a graphic designer, photographer, and chip music journalist who is actively involved with 8bitLA and musters inspiration from kitschy pop culture and obscure geeky references. VISMANCIENNE is a cerebral experience aimed at stimulating your psyche.

URIZEN is a spectacle! URIZEN is an experience! URIZEN is a whole hell-of-a-lot of fun packed onto a stage full of monsters, metal, robots, mad science, and four dudes rocking their hearts out in the name of entertainment! The balls of Rammstein strapped to the bodies of DEVO with the brains of Type O Negative performing the live show of GWAR... with a robot.

URIZEN is an electronic-influenced 8-bit-style heavy rock band based in Dallas, Texas. The band is well known for their entertaining and highly involved stage shows. Fixtures of their stage shows include the appearance of a giant, 8-foot-tall URIZEN Robot; a 12-foot inflatable cycloptic goo monster; a mad scientist nemesis; electrifying mind-control helmets; and much more!

The Brotherhood Of The Ellipsis was founded in Woodland, CA by Jacob Martinez and Andrew Wright as a simple cover band in 2009. Their desire to introduce a creative style all their own helped them escalate from the garage to the stage.

We're celebrating 5 years of 8bitSF with the triumphant return of ANAMANAGUCHI at DNA Loung. The 'guch headlined our very first show 5 years ago, and we can't wait to party with them again! GET YOUR TICKETS NOW, before it's too late!

Anamanaguchi is a four-piece band from New York City that makes emotional punk, pop, & dance music using hacked Nintendos, Game Boys, and 16-bit soundscapes. Members include Peter Berkman (guitar, songwriting), Ary Warnaar (guitar, songwriting), James DeVito (bass, stage visuals engineer), and Luke Silas (drums, solo act ‘knife city’). Their first full-length album, ‘Dawn Metropolis’, featured 7 songs that pushed the chiptune-rock formula to a new level and included a website full of visual landscapes for the tracks. The band was later commissioned by Universal & Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley to create ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game (Original Videogame Soundtrack)’ to coincide with the movie of the same title.

In 2013, Anamanaguchi released their first live action music video featuring a new single Meow. During a hugely successful Kickstarter Campaign with the promise of making it “more than just an album”, the band released ‘Endless Fantasy’, a 22-track full-length album under their own record label, ‘dream.hax’. Setting the stage for a new era in Guch history, the band reaches the far ends of the galaxy with its sound and has no sign of slowing down here on spaceship earth!

Una who used to be a charismatic shop assistant in Harajuku street scene, started her modeling career as an Aomoji-kei (Harajuku) model by getting a snapshot taken by a fashion magazine in 2010. It didn't take her long to appear on fashion magazines regularly. With her beautiful look, edgy fashion style and perfectly balanced body proportion, she became a new type of Aomoji-kei (Harajuku) model who is capable of expressing not only kawaii but also cool aspects of Harajuku. This time, this iconic figure in Harajuku street scene will be debuting with her first single "Juicy Juicy" on 14th August 2013. Her new single has been recognized widely, being used in a tv commercial. Una, a representative for this new street-born kawaii culture is sure to attract a great deal of public attention!

San Francisco's chiptune staple crashfaster has evolved from a gameboy-weilding solo act into a snarling, four-bodied electro-rock monster. Isolation, assimilation, accomplishment and emptiness fill the the band's songs, which genre-hop from electro to industrial, electronica to rock, all wrapped in a space punk aesthetic.

Chibi-Tech is known for her high-energy live shows all around the world; she’s played gigs at Blip Festival Tokyo and 8static Festival in Philadelphia. Mega Ran: Teacher. Rapper. Hero. Mega Ran's penchant for storytelling has impressed retro gamers while garnering respect from Hip-Hop's harshest critics. An incredible Impromptu "freestyle" MC, Random's unique combination of fantasy and introspective hip-hop has found its way into TV shows, movies, video games, and even coursework at several universities.

int eighty and c64 are... Dual Core. Brought together by the power of the internet (and perhaps a touch of musical providence), Cincinnati-based computer programmer int eighty and Manchester-area graphic designer c64 have been rocking the more studious side of the hip-hop underground since 2007. With sharp production and cleverly calculated flows, Dual Core are a fitting soundtrack to the 21st century. In a world where the underground cultures of hip-hop and computer tech have leapt stylistic and scholarly boundaries to become the accepted parlance, their amalgamation is nothing short of expected. Yet somehow, Dual Core is scarcely what one would call predictable.

Big Al is a boss-like hip-hop/funk/dance artist with much love for old-school rap, 80s-90s tv & movies, classic gaming (NES/Sega/SNES/N64), nerds, geeks, & chip tune music. He is currently mixing his new album with the help of the one and only DJ Cutman. Come watch the fun unfold as Big Al goes balls-deep into the world of video game music and nerdcore hip hop.

Slime Girls is the soundtrack to every time you've dreamed about the far reaches of space, the waves washing over a neon beach, forbidden android romance or giant mechs battling for your planet. From the wastelands of central California comes a distorted pulsewave assault of Nintendo gameboys, guitars and energetic drums. Sometimes fast, lush and loud punk rock, other times melancholy surf jams, sometimes danceable ska, yet always tied together with an electronic wash of melodic chip music.

Matthew Joseph Payne is the chamber-chip-doom-folk solo project of Matt Payne (Glowing Stars, Tensegrity Nine, All My Pretty Ones, The Family Crest extended member). Steeped in dichotomies of light and dark, Matt crafts tunes that wind, travel, drone and gallop through unheard lands.

Alone In The Universe is a chiptune/pop punk trio originating from San Jose, CA. Formed by two brothers and a friend who came from different musical backgrounds to create up-beat and energy-charged songs with 8-bit melodic hooks to take you on an adventure of astronomical proportions.

Doctor Popular is a chiptune musician and multimedia artist from San Francisco. His latest album "Destroy All Presets" is a catchy mix of electro-pop forged with the experimental bleeps and bloops of a vintage GameBoy Advance.

Together We Are Robots has been writing and composing chipmusic with two classic Nintendo Gameboys since 2008. Fresh in the San Francisco 8Bit scene, this Canadian was influenced by artists such as Nullsleep, The Postal Service, LCD Soundsystem and Uncle Outrage; the result being a high-energy, deliciously nostalgic eargasm.

A mad musical scientist and a sonic death machine met and formed a union destined to destroy bad music throughout the multiverse. Cartoon Violence is beyond genre or classification. They are music for the self-aware ironic subroutine of the pop culture singularity.
